I am having a problem with the radio in a 1999 Accent. There, is no
sound at all, when a cassette tape is put in, the radio pulls in the
tape, but then ejects it after a few seconds. No hissing from
speakers, but have a display of frequency. Is this some sort of
theftguard and the radio needs to be reset? Any help is appreciated.

It sounds like there's a problem with the radio/cassette player. Do I
understand that there's no sound for cassette but the radio plays normally
and that the radio displayes a station frequency when the tape is fully in
    the radio?

there is no sound at all. no radio, no cassette. not even a hissing
sound from the speakers. Cassette gets pulled in, then ejects seconds
    later.

Sounds like there's definitely a problem with the cassette portion, but
I've seen the sound complaint with shorted speakers. Does the scan/seek
feature work on the radio? If so, you know you're getting reception. Try
unplugging and reconnecting the speakers one at a time. I worked on a car
once where the speaker terminal was shorted to the speaker body, causing
    no sound.
