New belts squeaking?

I just had all my belts changed (yesterday) including the timing belt.
I thought I noticed a little squeaking this morning, but tonight there
is a lot of squeaking. As the squeaking becomes more pronounced when I
turn the wheel, I'm making assumptions about the steering belt.

Consider also that it has been raining all day and the roads are
    really wet.

Is this squeaking with new (wet?) belts normal, or should I be
    concerned?

    Thanx,

Maybe it's the idler pulley doing the squeaking? And maybe
it's mice? On one Hyundai forum, an owner reported his car became
infested with a family of mice when the weather turned cold.
Chewed/damaged the wiring. Mice damage isn't covered by
    warranty. =;-(

If you replaced the belts yourself just go out and retighten it. Belts can
and will stretch for a little while afteryou replace them. If you had a
shop do the work just take it back to them and tell them it's squealing and
you'd like them to retighten the belts.

No, that's not normal. You need to take it back to the shop.

Well, Saturday morning, I went for a drive and got around the block.
The sound coming from under the hood was horrendous, and I lost my
power steering. I check the belts and one of them (going to the
alternator) wascompletely loose. Called the shop, brought it in, and
    they tightened it up.

When I say completely loose, please believe me. There was no tension
    what so ever.

But they tightened it up and all is good.

Thanks again everone for the help

They left the locking nut on the alternator mount loose. Keep an eye
on it, they may not have done it right this time either. Any
squeaking at all means it's working loose again. A good shop puts
loctite on it, cause it's a pain to get to.
