lube spray

    hi there,

    what type of spray lube can i use that will not react with rubber pieces
    under the cars hood?
    wd40 is a no no, silicon spray maybye? my linkcages are little stiff etc for
    the clucth and squeeky.

  2. Silicone is actually good for rubber, but it's not a particularly
    effective lubricant. Neither is WD40. There are many spray and liquid
    lubes on the market. Plain ol' engine oil will work, but tends to
    attract dirt. LPS spray lubes are good. Boeshield is good and is more
    moisture resistant than most lubes. I've starting experimenting with
    CorrosionX recently and I'm pleased with the results so far.

    Personally I use the Wal-mart store brand stuff. Look for "Super Tech
    Penetrating lube", last time I got it I think it was 97 cents.

    Just an FYI - Buy your oil filters there as well. Super Tech filters
    are identical to the ones that say STP(available at Autozone),
    Deutsch(autozone store brand) and Bosch(also available at autozone).
    The best part is the price, the filters at wal-mart are only a couple
    bucks.

    Infact, if you go down to autozone and look at their really expensive
    Bosch filters next to a supertech filter(same application) from wally
    you'll see that they are the exact same filter.
