Have any of you used Hyundai's roadside service?

So, should I give up my Auto Club Membership after 19 yrs? If you've
used Hyundai's roadside service, how did it work out?

    Funny you asked...
I had to use it last summer when my car would not start - totally dead
(turned out to be a defective battery). The upside was that Hyundai's
contract station sent a flat bed truck(!) which loaded the car up and took
it the mile or so to the dealer. The downside was that it took almost 2
hours. I was at work. I remember reading mixed reports here in the past
(someone with a similar wait time, someone else who got a fast response).
    I'd keep AAA.

It worked great.. I have a 2004 Hyunda Elantra GT 5 speed, the silly lil
switch that stops the car from starting unless you depress the clutch pedal
was faulty so needed a tow in.. was there promptly and had me to the dealer
and the dealer had me back on the road within 2 hours from my first call to
    them..

  5. I've been left on the side of the road by AAA for 2+ hours. Inside city
limits of Beaumont, Texas on I-10.

    That's a great question - here's a bunch more <g>. Do both
Hyundai and AAA contract out to the same local towing
companies? Does the response time have anything to do with
your parent company or does it depend on who's running the
local towing service? I've only had to call AAA for towing
once (before I purchased my Elantra) and the truck arrived
in about 45 minutes. How about where the tow trucks are
    authorized to take the car?

I don't know about the first questions but the answer to the last is
that Hyundai's service is only supposed to take you to the nearest
service center whereas AAA Plus will take you anywhere within 100
miles (I believe that regular AAA is 25 miles).

From my experience I truly doubt that the same local tow companies are used.
Depending on the situation I might very well use Hyundai roadside assistance
again. In any case, since we need it for my wife's car anyway, adding my car
to AAA Plus is no big deal

That's not good. Please clarify, this was with Hyundai roadside
service, not AAA? What seems reasonable is that the response time may
depend on who's running the local towing service, probably true for AAA
as well. On the other hand, perhaps Hyundai, to save cost, contracted
with lower calibre companies. I'll be curious what other people have to
say who respond to this topic over the next week or so. In the
meantime, I'm not going to be so quick to cancel my AAA membership.

  10. Hyundai...the tow truck was on a job about 75 miles away, and had a flat on
    the way to me!

My wife started her car up one day at home and the check engine light
was blinking while the engine ran very rough. Called roadside
assistance and they sent a flatbed within a 1/2 hour. Later that
night we even got an automated phone call to insure we were happy with
    the service.

On the ride down to the dealer I was talking with the tow driver about
how the roadside assitance works to dispatch each tow company. It
turns out that many manufacturers use the same network of towing
services for roadside assistance. Generally speaking they are
supposed to take you to the nearest dealer. Anything further (like to
your favorite dealer) is out of your pocket.

I lucked out and the driver was willing to take me to my dealer (10
miles past the closest dealer) because he hated unloading at the
closest dealer. Their lot is very small and too cramed with cars to
    manuver such a large truck:)

We dropped AAA because of the roadside assistance and haven't
regretted it. I suppose if you want the freedom to be towed anywhere
you want you could have the AAA Plus plan. (100 free miles for each
    call)

On a side note... the dealer gave us an 04 XG overnite since it was
too late in the day to work on our car. VERY NICE:)

So, should I give up my Auto Club Membership after 19 yrs? If you've
I've used them several times, never had a problem... They will tow (flatbed)
to any Hyundai dealership within 12 miles. I have three dealerships in that
    range.

One heads-up though.... Don't call the dealership first, they will offer to
tow you themselves (for a fee)

Depends... A local service station told me that they work with "Cross County
Auto Club", AAA, and a few others. Different companies pay a different
amount and have different "response requirements", and if two calls come in
at the same time. they will respond to the one who pays more first.

We have both, Hyundai and AAA. Wife had a small problem last year
parking her Santa Fe in the back of a Durango (it wasn't too bad).
Anyway. we went with the Hyundai roadside assitance, they seemed
concerned about safety and than sent a flat bed. Took about 45min at
8am (prime time) during the week. We were happy (as happy as you can
be after an accident). By the way, the Santa Fe lost, but that was due
to a trailer hitch in the Durango. On the same note, Holmes body shop
in Pomona, CA. did a great job of fixing it! I would highly recommend
    them.

Yeah, I've used Hyundai's Road Service. Waited
about forty-five minutes (middle of the day). I consider that
good. Dropped AAA when the Santa Fe was purchased.
Just one more cost effective result by purchasing Hyundai.
