Found this in the glove-box of our new Santa-Fe. Anyone know what this thing is? - Doohickey.jpg

  1. I bought a new 2004 Hyundai Santa Fe GLS 4 days ago. The day after I
bought it, I was digging though the glove compartment and found this
doohickey. I have no idea what it's for. I searched the owners
    manual with no luck.

It's almost 2 inches long (5cm), black plastic, with 2 metal prongs at
one end. It looks like a key of sorts, with 4 short plastic fins near
the end that stick out perpendicular to the shaft.

Please identify! I'll be stuck hauling this thing around for years,
never knowing what it's for, just in case I might need it someday.

I attached a cropped image of it.

I have something similar on my Saturn, but for the Saturn, it's a fuse
puller. It's actually attached inside the fuse box. Next time you take
the car in for maintenance, ask the dealer.

It is the key to lock the luggage rack crossrails.

Luggage rack crossrail key. Personally, I use a small needle
    nose plier.

Unfortunately, without the picture I cant be sure, but I believe it is
the key to adjust the cross bars on the luggage rack on the roof of
the Santa Fe. There is a small plastic cover on the crossbars that
you take off revealing the place where you insert the dohicky!

Hope this helps, and congrats...I just got my Santa Fe day before
    yesterday!
