The shifting lever moves very hard and sometimes the car will not "turn Over" unless I put a small screwdriver in the hole just below the knob for the shift and move it around so I can at least put the lever into Neutral and it starts. Other wise it will not move out of Park. Also the dash indicator will not be the same as the shift mechanical indictor. 85,000 miles, upstate NY

    Check park/neutral safety switch
And check the cable which comes from the gear selector to the transmission
