I got screwed when I bought my 05 model, never thinking they would put
a cassette player in as standard-no CD!
Anyone know if the Accents or Elantra will have CD as standard
    Equipment on 09 models.
    What's next-8 track? LOL.

My new 08 accent had a standard cd player that actually plays mp3's as
    well.

You did not specify which model. Not all models come with cassette
player as standard. Accent and Elantra base models (the best
definition of "standard") come with speakers but no head unit, as far
    as I can tell.

Sonata, Azera, Tiburon, Tucson, Santa Fe, Vera Cruz and Entourage all
come with CDs as standard. I could not find any model on the Hyundai
USA website coming with a standard cassette, but maybe you are not in
the US -- another vital piece of information.

Genesis promises to come with a 6-disc in dash DVD changer.

I tell you one let down I had with my new Santa Fe vs my 2005 Tiburon
-- the Tib had a cassette and 6-disc CD player with 400+ Watts power.
The new more expensive Santa Fe only has the 6-disc CD player with
    605W system -- no cassette!
    Try Google.
    DVD.

Oh I'm in the US all right. I have an 05 Accent I think it is GL or
GS-the basic. 4 door. I never inquired as to sound system. I was
shocked to find a cassette player in a 21st century car. Pre-recorded
cassette's have been obsolete for about 15 years! What I've done is
record a couple of dozen of my favorite CD's on blank casssettes
(luckily I still have a stereo system that can do this) but this makes
as much sense as having modern sewers put in and then connecting them
to an old leech field. Maybe I'm spoiled having bought Lincoln's in
the past but I assumed any 21st century car would have CD as standard
    equipment.

Shouldn't assume when buying a car, the accent is Hyundai's base model car,
they probably had a warehouse full of tape players they still had to get rid
    of.

Be lucky, chevy still sells their base model work trucks with just an am/fm
    radio. no CD, no cassette.

Are you sure your car was a 05? My 05 Accent 3 door came with a CD player,
It was not listed as an option on the window sticker, Unless it was part of
a package that included power windows and mirrors.
I just traded in the Hyundai, It was a good little car but the Hyundai
dealer that I have come in contact with here in Florida made me decide to
    try another brand.

And why would a huyndai dealer make you buy another brand?

I guess I phrased that badly. Because of the terrible way the Hyundai dealer
treated us I decided I didn't want to do business with him again. I have
been purchasing new cars and trucks (mostly Fords) since 1977 and have never
had a dealer try to rip me off like this dealer did. Fool me once, shame on
you, Fool me twice, shame on me. I liked the car, but not the dealer.
