I have a 2006 Sonata, my security alarm keeps going off randomly, I had it looked at and the mechanic says he don't know, just retired can't afford a new car right now. What could it be!!! Neighbors getting upset!!!

Is this a factory alarm or aftermarket alarm?
Could it be someone who is messing with the car just so you turn off the alarm?
If neighbors are getting upset the maybe you could disconnect the horn/siren??

    Thank You for replying,
I found out that it may be my key remote, my key remote does not work, so I have been using my key. I had some work done which the battery had to be disconnected. Could not reprogram the settings.
Also, my hood will not open easy do you think I need a new hood assembly? For a 2006 I am paying a lot of money to keep this car running, but cant afford a new one.

I own a 2001 Elantra and understand the need to balance what is spent on the car and the need for a car.
Do you know where the ETAC unit is?
Sometimes the switch on the unit needs to be turned to set.
Press the button on the remote for 5 seconds
Then switch the unit back to ready mode
May or may not apply to your car.

If the hood doesn't open easily then I would suggest to fix it.
It makes it quite difficult to do anything if the hood won't open.
But, it is up to you. May be you can do it yourself??

Factory alarms aren't able to be removed without disabling the ECU
    Aftermarket alarms can be removed.
