I have a 2003 Elantra (about >1 year old now) and I like the car a
lot. Yesterday, while turning right, the engine seemed to stall -
pressing the accelerator down resulted in no power, I pumped it once
or twice and the car returned to normal.

I found the titles to 2 TSB's that might be related:

    Model : ELANTRA
    Year : 2003
    Service Bulletin Num : 0401003
Date of Bulletin: MAR 01, 2004
    NHTSA Item Number: 10006423

    Component: FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP
    Summary: FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT. *MR

    Make : HYUNDAI
    Model : ELANTRA
    Year : 2003
    Service Bulletin Num : 0390014
Date of Bulletin: MAY 01, 2003
    NHTSA Item Number: 10002339

    Component: ELECTRICAL SYSTEM
    Summary:
2.0L ENGINE MFI CONTROL SYSTEM ETM REVISION (IGNITION COIL CONNECTOR
    CHANGE). *TT

Does anyone know the details of these TSB's or have had the same
    problem?

04-01-003 is a recall for replacing the fuel pump for a rough running
condition at high temps in high altitudes due to low fuel pressure. This
recall applies only to vehicles in AZ, CO, NM, NV.

03-90-014 is simply an informational bulletin about the changes made to
the electrical connectors of a few components in order to provide proper
information for diagnosis. It mentions no problems with these
    components.

I've heard of cases of the connector in the top of the fuel pump
overheating and actually melting a hole in the top of the plastic part of
the assembly. It's possible yours just got hot enough to lose contact.
I've never seen one of these, though. I'd call the dealer and see whether
they think it's worthwhile to look at.

Thanks for your reply! I drove to work this morning without any problems.
Hopefully it was just a one-time, random event...
