    hi
finally decided on a 2003 hyundai accent gl 4door.
    very nicely optioned with ac,ps,pb,pw,pdl.
had to pass on the sonata due to the owner was trying to sell with a lean
attached and failed to disclose this.

anyway the accent is one owner with 44000kms .
does have a couple issues and i have a couple questions.

1)are the exhaust manifolds still prone to cracking like the earlier models.

2)the drivers outside door handle is broken, what is involved in removing
this and installing a new one?

3)the timing belt has never been replaced,it is well under the mileage, but
    what is the time interval(years).
how often do these break in accents?

i have signed up for an account on the hyundai site to look at the door
handle removal but the info is not very detailed.also where can one access
an owners manual on the site.
    once again,thanks
    jeff

    1. As far as I can tell, no. If your setup is similar to the U.S. models
there is a front catalytic converter that's part of the front manifold.

    2. You'll need to remove the door trim panel. Then, with the window up
you should be able to access the bolts holding the handle in place.

    3. The timing belt interval is 4 years or 60,000 miles (approx. 100,00
km). This engine, too, has sparse timing belt failures, but I've see
more than the 2.5/2.7 V6 engines. I definitely wouldn't let it go past
    years/150,000km.

You can access an owner's manual for your car at www.hyundaiusa.co

I have an '03 Accent HB. The flex pipe on the exhaust system gave way
at 100,000 miles. It was a $200 fix. To clear the check engine light,
i just disconnected the battery for a couple of minutes.

    hi again
this car has central locking but it never came with a keyfob for remote
locking,is it possible to get one off ebay and have it programmed? or would
this have had to be an option when the car was bought.
i see in the manual that remote locks/trunk was a possible option.
seems that power locks are kind of useless with no remote.
    thanks,jeff

    hi again
i see now, power door locks does not mean "keyless entry"
what would be needed to add keyless entry to my accent?
i am not concerned about an alarm.
    thanks,jeff

You need a receiver and keyfob combination. Several aftermarket options are
available starting from under $100 and typically going to around $300 with
remote start capability. If you're not confident with doing your own work,
you can probably find kits installed for about these same rates.
